Who We Are
We are Team Storm System. Team Storm System is a First Lego League team in the North Central Texas region. 2010 was our first year, so we are ending year four of our FLL team. FLL stands for FIRST LEGO League. FLL is a competition where teams from 3 to 10 people. these teams build robots using NXT and EV3 systems to complete missions on a preset board that changes each year to fit that years theme. This year's theme is Nature's Fury.
There are 4 different categories in FLL that the teams are judged on
1. Robot Game: the teams build Lego robots to complete missions
2. Project: the teams create or improve a solution that fits that years theme
3. Robot Design: The teams are judged on how their Robot is built
4. Core Values: the teams are judged on how well they work with their team members and other teams.
There are now seven boys on the team who range in age from 11-14. We are all homeschoolers!

What's New
we have just recently been to see boy scout troop 261 (about 60 boy scouts there) to share our research, robot game, and core values. we started off by having our mentor, who has been on the team for the past three years but aged out this year, tell the troop about FLL. we explained the four scoring points to the troop and then proceed to the project presentation.
The project went very smoothly, and the troop payed very close attention. then we went to the Robot game, which did not go so smoothly. for some reason our gyro sensor was slightly off, and messed up our most important mission.

we then went to our most popular game, ROBOT SUMO!!!!!! our team created five different robots that are designed for speed and power. two of the robots are put in a white board with a circle of black tape around it. each robot tries to push the other out of the ring of tape. to ensure that the robot does not go out on purpose, each one has a light sensor on the bottom that senses the black tape and turns around.
we did several rounds of this until we were out of time. we said good bye to the troop, and left. we hope to visit this troop again to do more sumo bots, but we do not know when.

What We Do
We build awesome Lego robots! We are also learning how to program the robot using the new and improved EV3 programming system, compared to the slightly older NXT programming!
